【SAKIORI】SAKIRI Shoes, Made by the Weavers of Tohoku.

This is the second edition of the highly-rated Sakiori Series, done in collaboration with “幸呼来Japan(Saccora Japan)”  Textile Studio of Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture.

Sakiori is a traditional method that originated in the Tohoku region during the Edo period. Cotton was a precious material at the time, during which people began to refer to it as “wisdom for life.”
Excess textile fabric is torn into fine strips, and carefully woven piece by piece.
Most of the process is performed by hand, creating a unique texture that would otherwise be difficult to achieve by machine.

The new models featured here are the MEXICO 66, which is Onitsuka Tiger’s headline model, and the GSM.
The uppers have Sakiori denim, made by the weavers of Tohoku. They feature hand-sewn strips of denim, pieced together using leftover scraps created during the denim crafting process.

We have a simple white option, as well as a three-color with blue base brushed-fiber option.

You’ve really got to check out this unique, warm-textured fabric using denim scraps!
