We interviewed MEN’S NON-NO exclusive model Kentaro Sakaguchi, who has been in the limelight. Mr. Sakaguchi has recently expanded his range of activity to include acting.
Kentaro Sakaguchi, model for Men's NON-NO magazine, has a solo cover feature for the first time in 20 years, and has become a hot topic. With his one of a kind appeal, he's launched from magazine covers to the big screen, making appearances one after another. In this interview we ask him about his personal life, and get to know the real Kentaro Sakaguchi!
Is there any autumn fashion item you have your eyes on?Well, every year I get knits, so I want to get some of those. I like knits because they're easy to put on and take off (smiles). I don't really have any leather or anything like that. As far as colors, I like scarlet, and navy blue too. So, if I find anything good with those colors, that's what I'll probably pick up.
Do you dress down in your private life?Yeah, I probably dress for comfort more often than not. So often I'll show up to work wearing just a sweater or something (laughs). Some people tell me, "You're a model, you should try a little more to look like one!".... (smiles)
You have a busy lifestyle, so how do you switch from to on off?Well, to be put it bluntly, I don't really feel busy, or at any rate, as long as I sleep I'm all right (laughs). But on days when I don't have to get up early, or on a day off, I vent by going drinking with friends. If I don't, I think the stress would really build up.
So you get rid of your stress by hanging out with friends.I don't really go drinking in big groups, most of the time I'm with the same circle of friends. I don't have many chances to talk much about myself, or rather, let my own habits or idiosyncrasies come out. But when I go drinking with my circle of friends, I can talk and be myself, so it's fun.
Would you say you have some introverted aspects to your personality? No, not really; I have parts of myself that I don't normally show, but I don't think I'm an introvert or anything. When I let loose I'm really noisy, actually (laughs). I'm a wolf in sheep's clothing. So, when I'm with my mother or sister in public and I act out of the ordinary, they're always like, "People are going to think you're crazy" (laughs).
Oh, okay, I get it (smiles). So anyway, if tomorrow you suddenly got a week off, what would you do?If I had a week off I'd take a trip. Either overseas or somewhere in Japan. I've wanted to go to Finland for a long time, but if I had a week I'd go somewhere in Asia probably. Thailand, Taiwan, or somewhere with good food.
And last, is there something in your personal life that you'd like to try?Yeah, I want to try skydiving! I could just dump all of my bad thoughts and feelings at once when jumping out of the airplane (smiles). It must feel good to just release everything and fall through the air like that. I've been saying I want to try it for a long time, so it would be good if I could do it sometime this year.
